In tumbling, your feet set the tone for how your body moves. Correct foot placement builds momentum, generates power, and ensures controlled landings. Placement can be understood in three categories:

  1. Positive Position

    • Feet in front of body/hips

    • Use for back handsprings and skills for one momentum is needed to travel directly backwards as opposed to up

  2. Neutral Position

    • Feet directly underneath body/hips

  3. Negative Position

    • Feet behind body/hips

    • Use for skills requiring distance off the ground, like back tuck layouts and fulls. Used for generating momentum and height upwards as opposed to traveling backwards.
